Eastbourne ALIVE Website
- Website Design
A key application of the Eastbourne ALIVE brand was to design and build a website that could inform and update the public on current and upcoming events across the centre of town. The site was custom built from the ground up and includes interactive elements and animation that bring the brand to life. We included a custom designed interactive map, using mapbox, that locates each artwork, exhibition, workshop and performance, encouraging visitors to participate in creating their own Eastbourne ALIVE art trail route.
The website exhibits the diversity of the Eastbourne ALIVE programme by having a page dedicated to all the artists and celebrates the town itself by promoting local businesses and landmarks. Because of an ever changing programme of events and artists being added every week, we built the website on the CMS (Content Management System) Kirby, which was already familiar to the Towner team. This allowed the site to grow and update with the program with minimal input from us.
Mobile first
We design and built the website to be at it's best on mobile, making it a truly useful tool for visitors to the Eastbourne ALIVE artworks. Each interpretation board for the major artworks had a QR code that linked directly to a page on the Eastbourne ALIVE website.
Accessibility was key. So making sure that all the content, including the map, worked seamlessly across devices was really important for this project. Optimising image sizes for fast loading and type sizes for legibility.
